Pro Shop Attendant

Job Summary:

Pro Shop Attendants work in the pro shop of Manderley on the Green golf course. Attendants will assist in the daily operation of the pro shop, including processing of green fees and merchandise sold, booking tee times, and housekeeping of the pro shop. Attendants will also assist with events being held at the facility, which will include supporting event coordination and customer service efforts. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Register all sales transactions with accuracy.

  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service on an ongoing basis.

  • Resolve any customer concerns or inquiries that may arise.

  • Open cash float by counting and ensuring the appropriate opening balance. Balance daily sales and payments in accordance with closing procedures at the conclusion of every shift.

  • Ensure the pro shop is clean and organized at all times.

  • Answer telephones to provide general facility information, direct phone calls, answer questions, and/or take tee time reservations.

  • Ensure compliance with the Employee Handbook.

  • Arrive ready for your shift in your appropriate uniform, and on time, as outlined in the employee manual. 

  • Ensure that all guests benefit from current, on-going and upcoming promotions, as communicated by management.

  • Assist with administrative tasks, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and excel in public relations and organizational skills.

  • Point of Sale experience in a retail operation is a definite asset.

  • Handle a variety of responsibilities and possess an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Work well independently, and provide leadership in a team environment.

  • Possess a reliable form of transportation, considering that public transportation to the facility is not currently available.

  • Maintain availability for shifts that can include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as well as a variety of early morning, and late evening shifts.

  • Meet and exceed guests’ expectations by providing excellent customer service.

  • Maintain a positive and welcoming attitude with golfers and other staff members.

Golf Course Maintenance

Job Summary:

Golf course maintenance workers are responsible for landscaping of the golf course, grounds, greens, and gardens to maintain the highest quality conditions during the golf season. Golf course maintenance workers will work under the supervision and direction of the golf course superintendent. Candidates should enjoy being outdoors and working independently. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance of the greens, tees and fairways. This will include cutting grass, raking, weeding gardens, pruning shrubs, and trees. 

  • Rake and maintain sands, bunkers and cart paths. 

  • Set tee markers and golf holes on greens daily for play. 

  • Maintain ball washers, replace tee towels and flags. 

  • Operate and maintain power mowers, tractors, electric clippers, string trimmers, blowers, fly mows, and other landscape equipment. 

  • Operate all necessary equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Proper operation of equipment will be outlined in orientation and training. 

  • Maintain fuel levels for all equipment used on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately. 

  • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures. 

  • Perform any other necessary duties, as directed by the Course Superintendent. 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possess a strong work ethic and initiative.  

  • Maintain a positive attitude and strength in teamwork and cooperation skills. 

  • Work well independently, and also collaborate with others, providing leadership in a team environment.

  • Communication skills are necessary, including listening, understanding, and responding effectively.

  • Commitment to working in a safe manner at all times. 

  • Must have sufficient physical strength to complete necessary duties, as this is a very physical position. 

  • Ability to stand and walk distances for extended periods of time. Regular lifting, pulling, and pushing. 

  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, and a reliable form of transportation, considering that public transportation to the facility is not currently available.

  • Maintain availability for shifts that can include weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as well as a variety of early morning shifts.

Food & Beverage Attendant

Job Summary:

Food & Beverage Attendants will serve patrons of the golf course both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as food. Attendants will communicate constantly with guests to ensure a high level of customer service is maintained. Attendants will be aware of golf course products and services, to provide any relevant information to guests during their visit. The ideal candidate must be Smart Serve certified, as well as possess a friendly and outgoing personality, and enjoy working indoors and/or outdoors. 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Arrive ready for your shift in your appropriate uniform outlined in the employee manual.

  • Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the facility.

  • Check guests identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.

  • Smart Serve Certification is required for this position. Identify and deny intoxicated customers further alcoholic beverages and ensure that customers have an appropriate means of transportation when leaving the facility.

  • Adhere to Health and Safety Guidelines of policies and procedures as laid out by management in the employee handbook.

  • Work in a team with other employees during busy times to ensure customers are served in a timely manner.

  • Performing daily opening of cash and inventory check, collect payments from guests and perform daily closing of cash and inventory check.

  • Communicate with guests regarding available menu options, answer any questions, make recommendations, and suggest appropriate choices if required.

  • Ensure that all guests benefit from current, on-going and upcoming promotions.

  • Perform daily bar cleaning duties such as: cleaning the bar and lounge tables of garbage and spills, cleaning & organization of the lounge, sealing and weighing liquor bottles at the end of each shift, restocking beer stock and shelves, cleaning inner bar area, removing garbage & recycling,  among other duties.

  • Stock service areas with supplies needed according to the inventory sheet provided, and ensure that Managers are aware when stock is low.

  • Assist kitchen & banquet staff when needed by helping with garbage removal, polishing glassware, sorting dishes & tidying the upper facility.

  • Assist in the training and development of new employees when required.

  • Other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Meet and exceed guest expectations by providing excellent customer service.

  • Capable of standing for up to 8 hours during a shift.

  • Safely and efficiently work with kitchen equipment; sharp knives, a grill and deep fryer.

  • Perform efficiently and effectively during high volume peak periods.

  • Possess a strong work initiative and work well independently.

  • Maintain a positive and welcoming attitude with golfers and other staff members. 

  • Being open to taking the Food Handlers certification program is considered an asset.

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule including opening & closing shifts, as well as availability on weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Manderley on the Green is located 8 minutes from Barrhaven on Prince of Wales Drive. Public transportation is currently not available to our facility, therefore applicants must have an appropriate means of transportation.

Facility Maintenance/ Handy Person 

Job Summary

This position is well suited for a seasoned handy person who is interested in working in a fun and dynamic work environment. This is a seasonal position, with full time hours from April until October. The handy person will perform ongoing maintenance of the facilities to ensure safety and enjoyment for other staff and patrons. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the golf course facility.

  • General daily housekeeping duties.

  • Inspect buildings and conduct necessary maintenance and repairs.

  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, and ensure adequate ordering of supplies. 

  • Repairs and maintenance of interior and exterior of buildings.

  • Previous experience with building maintenance is an asset.

  • Able to work independently and have a good work ethic and manage time efficiently.

  • Good understanding of a range of maintenance skills such as painting, carpentry, tiling.

  • Proficient in the use of electrical and hand tools.

  • Able to work independently and be able to manage time efficiently.

  • Trustworthy and dependable.

  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic is a must.

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of building and construction.

  • Ability to work well with your hands.

  • Problem-solving skills.

  • Practical skills for repairing and maintaining equipment.

  • Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.

  • HVAC knowledge and repair skills.

  • Experience installing and replacing plumbing systems.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Self-starter with good time management skills.

  • WHMIS certification. 

Remuneration

  • Hourly wage of $16.55-$20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Golf Course Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Golf Course Mechanic will be directly involved in the maintenance and proper operation of equipment and machinery within the golf course maintenance department. This individual will maintain records of maintenance being performed, as well as provide a proactive approach to monitor equipment and troubleshoot any deficiencies in performance. This individual will work closely with the golf course superintendent to implement a maintenance schedule on all related equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized working space in the maintenance building. 

  • Perform preventative maintenance by changing oil, lubrication, replacing worn parts and adjusting golf course equipment on a daily basis 

  • Knowledge of sharpening and set up of reels, rotary blades and hand tools for golf course maintenance.

  • Maintain appropriate maintenance records.

  • Perform tune-ups and general troubleshooting and golf course maintenance equipment.

  • Service and maintain gas and electric golf carts.

  • Knowledge and ability to change bearings, bushings, etc.

  • Schedules and performs preventative maintenance by troubleshooting and road testing equipment on a predetermined service schedule, to reduce breakdowns, lost work time and to maintain safety systems and equipment value.

  • Provide training to golf course maintenance staff, so they are able to safely and effectively operate equipment on the course

  • Preform major/minor repairs on all golf course equipment by diagnosing the problem and determining the most cost effective repair

  • Keep detailed service records and implement a preventative maintenance program to our current equipment fleet

  • Recover broken or adversely operating equipment from the course to ensure proper equipment is in place for greens staff on a timely basis.

  • Knowledge of small engine repairs.

  • Understand hydraulics and all types of engines associated with our current fleet.

  • Experience as an automotive mechanic or mechanic working on golf equipment is an asset.

  • Gas and Diesel engine diagnostics.

  • Team player, help out turf staff with daily activities when available.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in engine repair, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and reel grinding.

  • Experience working with golf course and landscaping machinery and equipment is considered an asset.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to work well in a team-based environment.


Remuneration:

  • Hourly wages ranging from $18.00-$25.00/hour, based on experience and qualification.

  • Golfing privileges are provided to the staff member, as well as discounted rates available for guests.
